Sloped Kitchen Garden Design

Sloped Kitchen Garden Design

Private Client - Barton upon Humber, Nth Lincs.

This quite unique garden is alongside the church yard, hence the graves in the design. It was originally split levels but the client wanted a smooth pathway to a lower area.

I designed a block paved pathway from the new patio at the top of the garden to a raised lawn at the bottom of the garden.

A mixture of evergreens, perennials and structured plants were designed to give the garden lots of interest all year round. The borders were also heavily planted with fruit and vegetables to make this a kitchen garden too, as the family always wanted to grow their own. Lovely obelisks frame the top area and as the garden at the bottom can sometimes be wet (because of the beck at the rear) the garden was raised to allow for this.

I love this tiny, long garden and all the interest that the different levels provided. It was interesting to build and plant too and the customer loved their new usable area.
